Is It Worth The Hype?

The new Netflix Original movie “To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before” (TATBILB) came out on Netflix on August 17, 2018, and it’s already taken the world by storm. Many people have re watched this movie multiple times, and it is pretty obvious why.

The directors of this movie could not have done a better job at casting for this movie. Every teenage girl seems to be in love with Peter Kavinsky, played by Noah Centineo, and judging by his looks and personality, it would be pretty hard not to love him. I am sure many people recognized well-known actress Janel Parrish in her cameo as Margot Covey, as she played Mona Vanderwaal on a very popular TV series, Pretty Little Liars. She was a good actress in the TV show and just as great in TATBILB.

Lara Jean Covey, played by Lana Condor, is so funny in this movie. She is very relate-able, and I am sure there were many times when people thought, “Yep, I’ve definitely said that.” Her lines in the movie were hilarious, and her acting that went along with it was great. Overall, Condor was a very good fit for the role.

Everyone loves a good romantic comedy, or romcom, but sometimes, they can get a bit repetitive. TATBILB, however, is a very new and interesting spin on making a romcom. It is not just the basic “new girl falls in love with someone forbidden” that a lot of other romcoms do. Instead, Lara Jean’s personal “love letters” are sent out to her old crushes by her little sister, and that’s how the whole romance is started. Sure, Lara Jean ends up falling in love with Peter, and he ends up falling for her, but it’s a completely new way.

Overall, “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” is a very good movie to watch on any kind of day, and it is a movie that will be funny and interesting for quite awhile.
