SOS: Save Our Shows
USA Today’s ‘save our shows’ poll
Every year for the past 20 years, the news network USA Today has hosted a massive polling effort called ‘Save Our Shows’ in which they take 30 television shows that are on the chopping block for their network and let the public vote on which shows they believe should be saved or cut and why. Even though it is only a poll, ‘Save Our Shows’ has made the difference for a few shows. Last year NBC, in a surprising decision, brought the show Timeless back for a 10 episode second season after initially cancelling it. This year’s line-up of shows include a wide variety of shows, and here are some of them:
Timeless: The sc-fi historical show is once again found on the edge again this year after their last minute save from cancellation. It follows a trio of time travelers through history to stop a rogue former agent.
Fresh Off the Boat: This show follows the life of an Asian-American family in suburban America and the various trials and events that take place.
Designated Survivor: This drama depicts the story of Kiefer Sutherland’s character’s surprising ascension to the Presidency of the United States and his trials while in office.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: As an extension of the Marvel Universe, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. follows several agents and their various missions.
Elementary: This crime-fighting drama follows the story of a pair of investigators in New York City and the wide range of cases they are tasked with.
Man With a Plan: Starring Matt LeBlanc, Man With a Plan follows his struggle balancing and raising three kids.
Criminal Minds: Already having 13 seasons, this show follows a team of criminal psychologists as they navigate a large assortment of cases.
A.P. Bio: After failing to do anything with his degree in philosophy, Glenn Howerton returns to his hometown to teach A.P. Biology in high school.
The Blacklist: Breaking away from traditional crime-fighting shows, The Blacklist follows a group of FBI agents and a criminal as they chase after the worst of the worst.
Superior Donuts: One of the few comedies on this year’s list, Superior Donuts focuses on a donut shop in Chicago owned by Judd Hirsch.
