Wattpad
composition sharing community
Growing writers want to share their projects but are skeptical of posting them in areas where they could be copied or never viewed it all. With the endless amount of blogs, apps, and clubs sponsoring writing it can be hard to find anything that can fit every need and pass every safety test. Wattpad is a simple yet genius website that gives any writer reader an opportunity to view and create an unlimited amount of stories.
Wattpad allows writers to share with a global community of other writers and readers. Users can comment and offer recommendations or opinions about lines in a story or share passages on Facebook, promoting the author’s work. Wattpad cannot be directly copied though, making it difficult to plagiarize ideas. Readers on Wattpad are typically respectful towards authors and point out mistakes rather than leave rude comments.
Some young authors can feel unsure about their writing skill, so they can have an anonymous account. With the feedback and motivation of readers, authors can grow in their skills and maybe even gain the support needed to send work to a publisher. Even if authors are not published they have the opportunity to profit from advertisements watched in between chapters.
Writers have a lack of inspiration just as often as they do ideas. With Wattpad readers can find inspiration and motivation by reading other people’s stories. New stories are being added pretty much every day, including fan-fiction, fantasy, realistic fiction and romance, so there’s always something available for flipping through.
A few published authors such as Alexandra Bracken, author of The Darkest Minds series write drafts on Wattpad for the fans and anyone else to review for feedback This gives the writers and readers the available ability to connect with experienced authors and observe their process of writing.
Wattpad is a website as well as an app on Google Play and the App Store. It is free with no add-on prices. To view and post thousands of stories, all one needs to do is make an account in less than five minutes.
