Oh So Spectacularly ‘Suite’
The world’s largest cruise ship almost here
A cruise ship called Symphony of the Seas, by the Royal Caribbean Cruises, has been in the process of becoming the largest known boat. It is scheduled to be ready to ride the waves in March of this upcoming year, three weeks earlier than previously surmised for April.
The first sail will be for five nights out of Barcelona, Spain, and the crew plans on docking in Italy as a Western Mediterranean sail. Proceeding that there will be a two seven-night sail with a stop by France before arriving home in Miami, Florida’s port in the U.S. It will not be until November of next year however where it will sail as a Caribbean Cruise from Miami in the states itself.
Symphony of the Seas, approximately 3,000 tons bigger than the current leader, Harmony of the Seas, will be capable of holding 6,870 passengers which includes 5,535 civilians and a crew of 2,100. It will travel at 25 miles per hour or 22 knots, and number a total of 18 decks in all. Not only that, but the ship will contain a water park for kids, a complete full-size basketball court, a full ice-skating rink and two climbing rock walls 43 feet in height. Finally, like never before, the Symphony will have a two-deck family suite with a slide that connects the children’s room to the main living. It is planned to have a whole movie theatre based room in the same suite with video games, pool table, air hockey and a wrap around balcony with a whirlpool. It will room up to eight people and be conveniently accommodated with a personal butler.
The story of the ship and news of its progress will continue to take shape over the next couple of months and into the new year.
