Beat the Bell

10 tips to manage your time

  1. Find all alternate routes to minimize any delays caused by crowds.
  2. Do not linger in the halls. Yes, it is fun to stand and talk with your friends, but not only are you wasting your own time, but you are delaying others. It is time to learn how to walk and talk at the same time.
  3. Listen to the warning bells. It is there to do what its name says. If you aren’t in class when that bell rings, you better be soon.
  4. Budget less time than you actually have. This way, you will end up being early rather than just barely making it or being late.
  5. If you have a class in the portables, walk outside opposed to fighting the crowd inside.
  6. Have a backup route established. If you have a backup in place, you will be prepared in the event that there is any sort of blockage in your primary route.
  7.  Allow time for traffic if you drive to school. You never know when an accident may occur, and it is always better to be safe.
  8. Find a walking buddy if you need to have someone help pace you. Just make sure that your chosen buddy is someone with a track record of being on time.
  9. Be respectful. That includes to everyone, not just your teachers and admins but also your peers. Respect other people’s time.
  10. Be adaptable. There is no problem venting to your friends, but in the end, the tardy policy is not going to change just because you don’t like it. So you might as well put your big kid pants on and learn to adapt and adjust.
