To the Final Minute
Wildcats draw 1-1 against Langham Creek
February 3, 2017
On a chilly February night, the Cy Woods Wildcats recorded 26 shots (17 of which were on target) but managed to tie the Langham Creek Lobos 1-1 despite the Lobos putting out a measly 4 shots with only two on target.
For nearly the entire first half, it was senior Megan Doyle and junior Kaden Schwenke that took the touches and fired off shots. Unfortunately, it was not until the 70’ that sophomore Bailey Peschel recorded a goal.
She skated around two defenders at the top of the box, sidestepped an anxious keeper and fired off a frozen rope to the bottom right of the goal. But Woods never let off the pedal.
After two yellow cards and seven minutes, the Lobos had a penalty from about 22 yards out. They delivered for their loyal fanbase facing the cold for this thriller of a game. A left footed goal from about three yards outside of the goal bounced around violently and made it’s way to the back of the net.
It was a hard pill to swallow but a draw is a draw and the Wildcats won’t sacrifice too much position in the table for this. The lady Wildcats face the Cy Falls Golden Eagles next week and are looking for a better result than they had this game.
