A Dog’s Accident
The video causing outrage in animal rights groups
Since the release of the trailer for the upcoming movie, “ A Dog’s purpose” people have been highly anticipating it, spreading the trailer all over social media platforms like Instagram and Twitter.
But almost a day ago, a video of one of the dogs used on set was posted online, and many people are outraged. The video shows Hercules, a German Shepard used on set and in the movie, being forced to take part in a water stunt. In the video one of the staff members of the film is seen pushing the distressed dog into rushing water and the dog having trouble swimming and keeping his head above the water towards the end.
“A Dog’s Purpose” producer Amblin Entertainment and distributor Universal Pictures told CNN that the production team “followed rigorous protocols to foster an ethical and safe environment for the animals.”
According to the studio, when they realized on the day of the shoot Hercules did not want to perform the stunt, they did not continue to film the shot. They claim that Hercules is happy and healthy.
Nevertheless, the video shows otherwise and animal rights advocacy group PETA has called for a boycott of the film. They want to put out the word that animals should not be used as movie props.
The voice actor of the dog that Hercules plays, Josh Gad, said that the video was disturbing and left him shaken and sad, according to CNN.
On twitter it has been said that the video is edited, but there are no claims as to what is true and what is not. For now it’s good to know that the dog is okay and in good shape. People are not very happy and their opinions of the movie have been swayed by the video.
