Person of the Week: Emily Morris

December 9, 2016

Junior Emily Morris is quite the model citizen-in both a literal and metaphorical sense. If you have seen her in the halls, it is not really that difficult to believe that she both models and acts on top of being a top scoring student. Morris as a 5’11” beauty, fit to run the catwalks of any fashion show she could want, and she is doing just that.

“I’ve modeled things from commercial/boutique-type clothes to clothes created by incredible New York designers.”, Morris said. “I’m always excited to work for them no matter what they dress me in.”

This is not a new business for Morris; she started acting and modeling when most of us were figuring out how to count to ten.

“Since I was really little, I’ve always been mesmerized by movies, but I didn’t just want to watch them, I wanted to be in them. It’s just always been a passion of mine, ever since I can remember,” Morris said. “I have videos of me making my own movies as early as age 5. I started modeling because I saw how fun and adventurous it can be, and how many beautiful things come out of it.”

She has since been hooked on the job and is loving every minute of learning and growing in her art.

“I started acting and modeling whenever I was in sixth grade, at about 11, but with acting specifically, I did mostly community theater,” Morris said. “Now, I train as a TV or film actress with different coaches from Los Angeles, where I intend to move and continue to act and model as my profession.”

Without a doubt, Morris has an incredible talent and a beauty that shines both inside and out as she is someone who gives support and love to whoever she can. Models are often stereotyped to be conceited and stuck up people, but the need to work with other people, and have relationships with photographers, fellow models and actors makes it a necessity to be a people person. Morris certainly accomplishes this.

“Honestly, there are so many things I love about both acting and modeling, but one of my favorite things is the rush that I get every time I go on stage or on the runway. It’s absolutely exhilarating, but one other thing about the two that I love is the aspect of being able to have an impact on other people,” Morris said. “Whether I’m making people laugh or cry during a scene, or making them gawk at the beauty of the amazing clothes I get to wear, I love impacting people and making them feel something. Plus, both activities allow me to express myself and have a goal to focus on, which is great for me.”
