Hurricane Hermine hitting Florida

Hearing that there is a possible hurricane in your area or even a possible flash flood can be scary if you are not prepared. Houston has flooded three in the past year and had two hurricanes over the past two years. A person can never be too prepared when it comes to natural disasters.

Florida is facing a huge natural disaster named Hurricane Hermine which will be Florida’s first time being hit since 2005. North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia will also be affected by the hurricane. Some countries have already declared mandatory evacuation before the storm hits.

The hurricane was originally a tropical storm which then turned into a hurricane by the increasing of high winds. Dedicating a little room with no windows like a closet is a good idea in case your house is being threatened so that you avoid the dangers of glass being broken by 80 mile per hour winds. In the room, there should be a couple of blankets and pillows to ensure comfort and a medium sized Tupperware container filled with snacks, water and a first-aid kit in case something were to happen.

One of the most important thing people forget are their pets. No pets should be left alone during any natural disaster because they could get trapped or hurt with no way of getting help. In the event the pet owner cannot take their pet with them, they should contact any friends or family to see if they have room for the animal. If that is a no, then as a responsible pet owner, they should give them to an animal shelter to ensure the pets safety. It is important to have an escape plan ready for the entire family in case of an emergency. Just be prepared for any natural disaster that could occur because nobody truly knows when one could appear.
