The Degression of Modern Film
Movies just are not what they used to be
Movies now-a-days are not as good as they used to be. You may hear your parents or some older person with an unimportant opinion say it, but here, you are going to get it from me; a living, breathing teenager who hates to see a bad movie. First things first, this summer has been the worst movie release season ever. Gone are the days of good Tarantino films or “Scarface” (the best movie about delinquency ever).
Even the humor is sub-par. “Sausage Party” was the worst movie I have ever seen, and I was forced to watch “Veggie Tales” as a child. The comedy was way too raunchy for the public and the ending was so disgraceful that the people sitting around me started leaving in droves as Seth Rogan single-handedly ruined his voice-acting career via hot dog.
“Suicide Squad” was true to the comic books, but lacked realism, and was one of the most anticlimactic super hero movies ever made. The Joker was convincingly psychotic, but Harley Quinn was objectified too heavily to bear.
“You Before Me,” which was released in July, was one of the corniest, most predictable chick-flicks released in the last decade, and ended like the last couple of sips of a Starbucks drink: disappointingly. I’m convinced whatever great motion pictures we expect to get have already been released. All independent motion picture companies have destroyed themselves with the unimpressive content they call “movies.” There will be no more “Pretty Woman” caliber movies; all we are going to get are horrible remakes of movies like “Tarzan.” Sorry to break it to you, pop culture, but you have ruined film making with your horrible expectations and your immature sense of humor.
Sincerely, an angered movie-goer.
