SUMMER MOVIES FOR 2016
April 28, 2016
While some visit far away places or Grandma’s during the summer, many of us just experience hot days of nothingness and rolling around on the floor while clicking the next button on Netflix. Besides going to a friend’s house or Whataburger for a Patty Melt, the place we visit most during these three months is the movie theater. Here is a list of movies to look out for during the summer of 2016.
MAY 27: Alice Through the Looking Glass– Disney and Tim Burton brings us the very trippy sequel to Alice in Wonderland. In the trailer it is revealed that after her first trip to Wonderland Alice’s parents put her into a mental institution. She somehow escapes and makes her way back to all her friends she met when she went down the rabbit hole the last time and it looks like the Mad Hatter is in trouble again, but this time his enemy is Time itself.
MAY 27: X-Men: Apocalypse- This addition to the X-Men franchise is set somewhere close to X-Men First Class with many of the returning characters we love like Professor X, Magneto, Mystique, Beast and plenty of character we already know making an appearance for the first time in this timeline, like Storm and Jean Grey. The first mutant, Apocalypse, has returned and is forming an army to destroy the weak, which is pretty much everyone who doesn’t have the mutant gene. The X-Men must stop this mighty mutant god before he wipes out the human race.
JUNE 17: Finding Dory– The lovable blue fish voiced by Ellen DeGeneres returns on a quest to find her own origin which she has forgotten due her short term memory condition revealed in Finding Nemo. Along the way she meets up with some friends like Crush and Squirt, and even finds some new ones that help her get closer to her past.
JULY 15: Ghostbusters– This revival of a classic seems to be a whole new story. The new Ghostbusters team, Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones fight against a mysterious person who creates a device that amplifies paranormal activity and the Ghostbusters once again have to save New York. The ghosts, the jumpsuits, the slime and the cast of hilarious actresses gives a promising feeling to this beloved franchise.
August 5: Suicide Squad– Tons of DC Comics characters make their debut in this upcoming film including Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Will Smith as Deadshot, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress and a couple of returning characters like Jared Leto’s the Joker and Ben Affleck as Batman. In this DC movie several government officials decide to put together a team of highly dangerous super villains to do their dirty work for them. The villains have one option; do as they’re told or be killed.
