The Buddy Walk 2015

SPARKs Club supports down syndrome awareness

FeliciaH, Staff Reporter

Today at Minute Maid park, SPARKs club joined the 100s of other amazing people gathered for the Buddy Walk. I have always heard about the Buddy Walk from my cousin, who has down syndrome, but have never made it to one myself. It was an environment filled with so much love and was an all around good time. The best thing I saw, next to all the kids smiles, was one team’s shirts that said “I don’t have an extra chromosome, you are just missing one.” I love the positivity of the message on that shirt, special needs kids have such a special place in my heart; they are a wonderful community of people. Everyone was so supportive and glad to be there. There were bouncy houses, live music, food and so much more- I was just enjoying taking it all in. The Buddy Walk 2015, truly made my day and showed me how lucky I am to have the opportunity to create friendship with these amazing people.
