The beauty of being human

The Human Face.

MiaL, Staff reporter

I am not good or bad.
I can be repulsive, disgusting, and deranged.
But I can also be alluring, seductive, and radiant.
And as superficial as it may sound I’d like to think I am beauty and chaos all together in one breathtaking package because For me beauty is being able to see myself self in a mirror naked with my hair in a mess.
And be able to to pull and tug at the fat on my body. My hands on my face and neck. Caressing the line of my back. Feeling the curves on the sides of my stomach and touching the thickness of my thighs. This makes me smile and anyone would question that and ask why?
I’d simply tell them well my friend you must not appreciate art to ask that.
Because I’d like to think that my creator consulted some of the greatest sculptors of their time to ever live: Michelangelo, Donatello, Lorenzo and asked them to create the body’s of all kinds of people before they were born so that when they grew up.
they would grow up to look like gods and goddesses.
Beauty is such a strange word with so many meanings to so many people.
For me I enjoy seeing the little details on a stranger or taking in the full presence of a friend.
The dimples, Freckles, and birthmarks.
The gaps between teeth, the shape of the lips and the creases that show up in their smiles. The lines on their hands.
The way their tone changes when they speak of something they love, the sound of their laughter.
Some of us only have three fingers on one hand or six toes on one foot.
Embracing the scars and bruises on your body and knowing the story behind each and every one.
To lose limbs or the loss of use of one and being able to take back your life.
And when I see these things the only thing I can think is what a wonderful thing it is to be human.
To take in all that you are and that you will become. Isn’t that beauty?
Wearing your identification that you’re a freak of nature and wearing it proud.
A single life that is capable of changing even a piece of the world.
Capable of making and breaking rules and creating and destroying the system you live under.
Isn’t that beautiful?
Staring a new generation.
Mix your races.
Become the trend setters.
Write hymns for your kind
Start revolutions.
Be a genius in anything you can.
Aim for the crazy most people are afraid of.
You can even be a poet who has to ask people to read her poetry.
The freedom that resides in your mind is your greatest weapon.
Now isn’t that just beautiful?
Now isn’t that just human?
