On the Record
September 16, 2015
Pulling the record out of the album cover. Hearing the needle run over the vinyl when you place it on. The surface noise that accompanies the music. The vintage look of the albums. These are only some of the many reasons why I love to collect records. Record collecting is one of my favorite ways to spend my money, and I have around 28 albums right now. I envy those who have 50 plus records in their collection. Record collecting is an expensive hobby, and I can only wish to have that kind of money to spend on albums. I already spend most of my money on albums, but I can never have enough of them. When friends and family ask what I want for Christmas or my birthday, I always say records, or money to spend on them. One of my favorite things to see when shopping for records is milk crates full of old records. It’s even more fun when they are out of order because you never know what you’re going to find next. Every time I see crates like these, my face lights up and I rush over to them, excited to get my hands on the records the crates hold. I expect for my collection to grow, and I fully intend to collect records in my future, however expensive they might become. I have a mental checklist of the records I want, and fair warning: if you ask me about my records, don’t expect me to stop talking anytime soon.
