Ed Sheeran X Tour Review

Everyone’s favorite ginger is back and better than ever.

The British singer returned to Houston after three years to kick off his fourth North America tour leg at the Dynamo Stadium. Seeing the one man band that is Ed Sheeran live is an experience that’s difficult to explain with words so lets start with the opening acts. Jamie Lawson, a fresh new artist in the music world, was the first of the night. Lawson was the first to be signed to Sheeran’s record label Gingerbread so it was no surprise he was very talented. His songs were the sort you’d hear in the end credits of a Nicholas Sparks movie, and I swear, I mean that in the best way possible. Next was the more known Christina Perri who could not get more adorable. Her amazing voice accompanying the little dances she did out of pure excitement made the entire crowd question why she wasn’t headlining her own tour. She sang all her biggest hits including Jar of Hearts, Human, and of course the one every twilight fan knows by heart, A Thousand Years. The mood changed almost immediately when Sheeran popped up on the stage starting I’m a Mess at a speed about ten times faster than on his album but it did its job and got everyone jumping and screaming within seconds. His set list is a perfect mixture of songs of the mosh pit variety and songs every couple in the audience slow danced to, all done with just him, his guitar, and a handy dandy loop station on stage. He sang. He rapped. He snuck in some Drake. He had to replace his guitar several times because he was playing too hard and the strings snapped. There is nothing this small ginger man can’t do. Someone even proposed during Thinking Out Loud. The only possible reason to be upset while leaving the stadium was the stand still traffic as a result of the concert and the Astro’s game ending at the same time.
