The annual Cy Hope shoe drive is collecting old shoes to donate to children in need. Students can donate a pair of shoes, or even an individual shoe to help the less fortunate.
Wildcats will have a chance to give back and help support the student council in reaching their goal in collecting 500 shoes through the end of December.
“Something as simple as giving shoes will help benefit the community,” senior Logan Norris said.
The donations have grown since the drive was first introduced. Starting out with only 20 to 50 shoes donated a year since 2009.
“It will help us come together, knowing we can help others out there,” Norris said.
History teacher Craig and creative writing teacher Nikki Self introduced the idea, bringing together Cy Hope and Student Council to contribute and give back to the community.
“It will benefit the community in a great way,” senior Shea Foster said. “It will make us more of a family.”
The shoes will go to children within the community that are facing the challenges of poverty.
“I just want everyone to understand that we need to give back,” Foster said.
Any type of shoes can be donated to the drive and will help a child in need. Shoes can be donated in room 2216
